| Staff at Grimsby Delivery Office have been involved in Charities and fund-raising for many years. For example- raising funds for disabled children, running the London Marathon in aid of Childline, support and participation in the annual Cleethorpes Carnival. More recently, we have set up the "Out and About Club". Staff pay in to this every week, for subsidized outings through the year. Regular donations from the moneys raised, are made to local charities. |

A less than flattering photo of Anthea Turner
that I took on the day.
On more than one occasion, Royal Mail have provided Free Postage to
the viewers of Blue Peter (BBC Children's programme) so that they can send
in what ever is being collected that year. In the early 90's Blue Peters
annual fund-raising event was in aid of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat
Institution). Anthea Turner (an ex presenter) and now popular TV presenter
attended the launching of the new Cleethorpes Lifeboat. Also in attendance
on the day, was the (then) Chairman of the Post Office, as well as a number
of staff from the Grimsby Delivery Office.
Barrie is one of the managers at the Grimsby Delivery Office.
He is also the local treasurer of "Childline", (a national UK Charity).
He raised £1180 after his first run in
1997, and £1211 after his second run in 1998. This year is the first
year that his fund-raising efforts have been publicized through the Internet.
Barrie completed his third London Marathon during the Spring of 1999, once
again raising hundreds of pounds for Childline
