Comments: Hi, I am an A-Level student and as my final graphic design project I have decided to design a new post box. Your site has been really helpful to me but I am having difficulties with my research. I don’t know if you can help me but I would really appreciate any information that you could give me about the current post box?
Recently I enquired at my local branch but they said they couldn’t help me, and I haven’t received any official reply from Royal Mail yet. So, if you have the time I would be really grateful for any help that you could give me about this matter (however relevant you think it might be). Thanks a lot Jade Mitchell

Comments: hi steve,i'm a postman at whitby office, it's not the first time i've had a look at
your excellent site but i stumbled upon it again while in 'the postal ring'. thought you may like to
take a peek at my postal site. it's it's
only new and we havn't got yur level off expertise but it should get better as time goes on. there,s a good link here as well to a chap in Ohio who has done a site like yours. A quick question about your site : have you got a database of ex posties at grimsby? the reason i ask is to kill 2 birds with one stone . having such an unusual surname i've done some family research and the name originates around the grimsby area. Any leads? Lastly if you need a 1950's postmans greatcoat ,trousers and cap for any pictures i have the full get-up.

Comments: You can't imagine how long I've been searching for some pictures of carriers (postmen) from Royal Mail and I just now stumbled across this great website. I'm a 20-year letter carrier in Poland, Ohio. That's near Youngstown, Ohio. I'll bet THAT didn't help either. It's in northeast Ohio.
I've been wanting for a long time to see what it looked like in your offices. What your uniforms are like. What your sorting cases are like. (I love the ergonomics applied to the curved one I saw in a photo). There are many questions I have regarding your daily routine, your relationship with supervisors and managers (in the professional sense, of course),your vehicles, your routes, what your bosses are like, your experiences and so on.
I'd really love to hear from any of you Royal Mail postmen across the pond. Perhaps we can share information about current automation changes affecting our profession.
Thanks for listening and I hope to hear from one of you real soon.

: Hello there! Just wanted to say that i really enjoyed ur website. My Year 2 class is currently working on the Post office, mainly its History. The site was a great place for the children to work at their computer skills and to learn more interesting things on our topic.
Hope that you will follow it through, best of luck, University of Chichester.

Comments: This is the first site I have found with good quality photos of the uniforms. Do you by any chance have any details of the cycles from around 1910-1917. I have a pre 1918 Armstrong postal inspectors bike and am trying be sure that its colour and fitments are period. I ride the bike as part of the veteran and vintage cyle club . Any idaes on how the post inspectors unifor differed from those on the rounds?

i just stumbled on it while looking for something else, and thought what a great feature it would make with you working in the traditional mail service and obviously very involved in the e-mail service too! Contact me if you would be willing to do something for the Grimsby Telegraph.

It's interesting to see someone take such an interest in the history of where they work.
I've been trying to find out some basic information about the Royal Mail during WWII. In particular,
I'm trying to find out the format of mailing addresses for letters to and from soldiers and their families at home.
I'm a living historian in California, and our group researches and tries to present the daily life of a section in the
Green Howards regiment at living history displays, school presentations, parades, reenactments, etc. One aspect
I'd like to add to our presentation is the importance of mail to the common soldier, and I am trying to organize a mail
call for our unit at events. That requires me to have properly filled out envelopes and the like. So far, I haven't been able
to find any resource for how letters and packages were addressed or franked. Any assistance you may be able to
offer from your research would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Comments: Has lots of information but just needs to be a little bit more exiting in it's presentation. Might put a few people off. is it worth asking the boss if you could display a few stats.. e.g. how many items we delivered this week. This could be regularly updated and provide locals with an appreciation of just how busy/hard working staff are. What about opening hours for the locker etc. lets make it a bit more local (thius info would need to be on a revised and jazzed up home page. Let me know what you think. (I'm sure you will!!!!!)

Hi Steve,
I am researching the history of our Company, LDV Limited, (formerly
Leyland DAF, Freight Rover, Morris, Wolseley etc). I was fascinated by
your site, especially as today the Post Office remains one of major customers.
As a result of the work I am doing we intend to publish the business history
upon the Company intranet and would like your permission to include some
of the Morris Commercial images. Normally, when doing a project of this
sort, we would do a link direct to your site, but unfortunately, due to
the threat of virus attack and business security, this option is no longer
open to us. I would therefore seek your kind permission to use some of
your images directly. LDV will of course acknowledge your copyright ownership
within the project.
