More memories, and this time a change from the army.
These two pictures are from A.Wilson, of 8, Peaksfleld Avenue, Grimsby.
One shows the sorting office at Grimsby Head Post
Office in the early years of this century. The three men nearest the camera,
from left to right, are a Mr. Robinson, Mr. Rhodes(?) and Mr. J, Boyce.

The highly patriotic post-card, sent out to celebrate
the opening of the new post office a little earlier was posed for by a
Miss Morris and the oldest postman then serving, Mr. Hewson.

musicians. Mr. Hewson was an organist associated with the Pentecostal Band.
Mr. Boyce was organist at Flottergate and Victoria Methodist churches and
the Gospel Mission in Central Market, and taught the old Post Office Band
to play when it first started.

In 1905, Mrs. Wilson tells me, postmen made four
deliveries a day, and one on Sundays, the day starting with a delivery
at 7.30 a.m., and finishing with one at 1130p.m.
