This is the rear entrance
This is the Osborne Street entrance. The building ran from Osborne Street,
right through to Victoria Street on the other side of the block. This was
also the Delivery staff entrance, and entrance / exit for the vehicles.
Originaly built at the turn of the century, the rear area was re-built
in the 60's. The premises are currently occupied by Grimsby's Argos Superstore.
This one is taken looking across the main Sorting Ofice floor, from
the direction of the lift (that was installed during the 70's)
At one time, (prior to the late 60's), the main Sorting office floor,
was on the ground floor. After the late 60's it moved on to the newly built
1st floor, and offices occupied the top floor.
This is the floor above the one shown in the last photo. This was the
Cleethorpes / Humberston & New Waltham deliveries Sections
This was the area that I worked in for nearly all my time at the old
Delivery Office.
This is another view on the old Cleethorpes section
There were over 60 Delivery people working in this area. Before the
Clethorpes section moved in, it had been offices, and the Parcel Sorting
floor. Parcels are now handled by another arm of the Post Office "Parcel
Force"
