Gad's
Hill School is centred on the former home of the world famous author
Charles Dickens and is surrounded by beautiful grounds, playing
fields and countryside.
Although,
our heritage is Victorian our attitude to education is strictly
21st Century. One of our educational priorities is to ensure that
our children learn the ability to communicate and to adapt in an
ever-changing world. Communication is a vital tool in today's global
society and from Kindergarten upwards, all of our students learn
a modern European language and make daily use of Information and
Communications Technology across all curriculum subjects. With Gad's
Hill being of equal distance from both the continent and the City
of London; communications, whether electronically or in a major
European language is a must in the 21st Century.
We
believe strongly that children thrive when they are happy, stimulated
and enjoy a rich and varied curriculum. At Gad's we ensure that
our academic programme is balanced with a range of activities designed
to enable our students to have an appreciation of art and culture,
to enjoy the challenges of sport and adventure. Poems, stories and
plays are enacted regularly to parents and pupils at weekly assembly
or more during formal plays and concerts. All of these non-academic
pursuits are used to help develop self-confidence, encourage teamwork
and a sense of achievement.
Gad's
is successful largely because of our small classes, excellent pupil-teacher
ratio and our positive approach. Entry to the school is selective
and is determined by a series of tests and interviews or by assessment
during a "taster day". We seek to assess the child's academic
potential while other factors such as their enthusiasm, commitment
and the desire to succeed are of equal importance in the decision
to offer a place.
