Lossiemouth, Elgin, etc.

Another lazy start to a Sunday and what looked like an uninspiring day. However, the weather brightened up considerably by mid morning and I began to think about somewhere to go. Looking at the road atlas I decided to head up to Lossiemouth beside the North Sea.

Just after lunch I collected my camera gear together and got into the car. I left Aberdeen on the now familiar route A96 heading in the direction of Inverness. I followed this road until Elgin, about 50 miles short of Inverness, where I turned onto the A941 and on to Lossiemouth.

After a brief drive around Lossiemouth and a stop close to the beach area and near the local caravan site, I drove back down the A941 to Elgin where I made a stop by the ruins of the old cathedral.

Leaving Elgin, I first started driving back along the A96 until the junction with the B9015 where I turned to head back to the coast at Kingston. After Kingston, I wanted to get across the River Spey to get to Spey Bay. To achieve this I had to drive back down to the A96, along this road for a couple of miles and then up the B9104 to Spey Bay.

After the stop at Spey Bay I decided it was time to return to Aberdeen rejoining the A96 once again near Fochabers. I was back in Aberdeen around 7.30pm after a distance of approximately 150 miles.
