Lands End to John O'Groats |

A journey in more ways than one |

How It Feels I’ve wanted to do this trip ever since I can remember, mostly it had just been a dream and easily dismissed as such. When I started getting more serious about it and explaining my idea to friends and family, it started to take real shape.
But I have to say that I wasn’t convinced that it was ever going to happen even up to getting on the train!
The sense of achievement is magnificent. I wear the T shirt with pride and show the certificate to everyone who strays too close to my house. If they want to see it or not.
Again!?! People keep asking me if I’m going to do it again. I don’t think so, I’ve done that, there are other challenges out there and while I found this trip hard in places, it has inspired me to attempt more.
If I were to do it again, I'd take longer for sure. At least 3 weeks, to give myself time for sightseeing and generally taking it a bit easier.
I'd also make more of an effort to avoid main roads. In fact I think I'd make a big effort to keep to minor roads if at all possible.
What's Next? Paris-Brest-Paris is an Audax ride to aim for. That’s on every four years and I’m giving it serious thought.
Then there's the North Sea circuit. That looks like quite a challenge.
There's always the costal route, all the way round the edge, that'd be fun.
Watch this space.
