Vermont Nature Trails:
Attractions: Scenic walk through cultivated fields, forest plantations and rain forest, with many species of wildlife. St. Vincent Parrot (Amazona Guilingii) and Whistline Warbler (Catharopeza bishopi), both endemic to St. Vincent, can usually be seen in early morning or late afternoon.
Facilities: Nature Centre and two developed nature trails: 0:75 and 1.75 miles long. Interpretative brochures may be obtained from Forestry Division and Tourism Department.
Directions: From Kingstown drive north for 20 minutes (3 miles) on Leeward Hwy to Questelles, look for Vermont Nature Trail sign, 1 mile further on, turn inland and drive 2 miles to Vermont, then 1.5 miles on rugged road to Nature Trail site.
Note: Groups may arrange for naturalist guides through the Forestry Division or Tourism Department. Allow 2.5 hours for a guided trip. Be prepared for rain; insect repellent recommended.
Wallilabou Falls:
Attractions: View 12 foot Falls and bathe in shallow pool, 4 to 6 feet deep.
Facilities: Change rooms and pit toilets. A picnic site is being developed.
Directions: Drive 45 minutes (14 miles) on Lea ward Hwy, from Kingstown to Wallilabou bridge, continue 0.75 miles east to Falls on right side of road.
Richmond Beach
Attractions: Spacious black sand beach with a natural stand of Indian Almond trees, swimming, picnicking, and popular fishing spot.
Directions: Drive 1.5 hours (22 miles) from Kingstown on Leeward Hwy, and go 1.5 miles past Fitz-Hughes
Note: Beware of undertow near Wallibou River
Trinity Falls (Petit Wallibou Falls)
Attractions: Scenic trail to view 40 foot Falls (often in 3 cascades) descend into circular pool, then 10 feet into second pool. Swim or bathe in pools.
Directions: Drive 1.5 hours (24 miles) from Kingstown to Richmond Vale Academy, turn right at entrance to Academy shop and drive 2.5 miles inland, then hike 2 miles on rugged trail.
Notes: Site is being developed. Recommend that you obtain guide in Chateaubelair or contact Forestry Division.
Falls of Baleine
Attractions: Spectacular 60 foot falls and deep swimming pool.
Facilities: Rustic picnic shelter and paved path, 250 yards from beach to Falls.
Directions: Boat trips may be arranged with tour operators (see list). Trips are 6 to 9 hour outings from Kingstown, and provide excellent views of Leeward coast and marine life (e.g. dolphins). Also, return boat trips to Falls may be arranged in Chateaubelair. Another route is to drive 2.5 hours (35 miles) from Kingstown up Windward Hwy to Fancy. Hike rugged 4.5 mile trail to falls, turning right at 2 large mango trees. Allow 4 hours. You may arrange in Fancy for a boat to meet you at falls for return trip.

Owia Salt Pond
Attractions: Two picnic areas and small garden overlooking tidal pools sheltered by rugged volcanic formations.
Facilities: Rustic shelter, toilets and change rooms. Picnic sites (very popular on weekends) located at top of bluff and among boulders by the pools. Concrete steps lead to pools.
Directions: Drive 2 hours (32 miles) from Kingstown on Windward Hwy to Owia, turn east at Police Station and drive 200 yards on trail to parking area.
Note: Watch out for ‘stinging’ yellow sea anemones on rocks. High tides and breaking waves can be dangerous.
La Soufriere Volcano Trails
Attractions: Hike through coconut and banana plantations, secondary forests, elphin woodland forests, and barren slopes of volcanic scree, above tree line. On clear days you can see into crater, St. Lucia, and a panoramic view of St. Vincent.
Facilities: From Windward side, a partially developed wilderness trail climbs to 3300 feet in 3.25 miles. Trail passes 2 good picnic sites: River Bed and Jacob’s Well. Hikers in good physical condition should allow 2.5 hours to reach crater rim. From Leeward side, a much more challenging ascent, unmarked wilderness trail climbs 3300 feet in four miles; crossing no steams except Wallibou near the coast.
Directions: Drive up Windward Hwy for 1.5 hours (24 miles), turn inland just after Rabacca (Dry) River and drive through farm land for 1.5 miles to trail head. Or drive up Leeward Hwy for 1.5 hours (24 miles), leave vehicle at Richmond Beach, hike north along beach 0.5 miles past Wallibou river, turn inland and up dry river bed for 1 mile. Trail rises sharply from left side of river bed for 2.5 miles to crater rim. Allow 4.5 hours to reach crater rim.
Note: Recommend you take a guide. Bring wind breaker/raincoat, insect repellent, water, and prepare for trail to be very slippery when wet. If top of mountain is covered by clouds when you reach Jacob's Well, wait awhile, as it will often clear.
The Grenadines
Within forty miles of Kingstown there are 32 islands and cays in the Grenadine archipelago. These areas, such as Tobago Cays which are administered by the Fisheries Division, provide abundant opportunities for yachting, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving and relaxing on beautiful white sand beaches.
