Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the Priest and people to worship Almighty God, especially during the celebration of Mass.   At present there are about thirty people involved in this ministry, ranging in age from 7 to 85 years.

Eucharistic Ministers

Parishioners are invited by the Priests to assist them in distributing Holy Communion during Mass and to visit the sick and housebound, enabling them to receive Holy Communion regularly at home.

Ministers of the Word

Like all ministries, proclaiming God's word to his people does require its own talent and a commitment that exceeds 'volunteering'.   Ministers of the Word need to be committed to improve their knowledge of the scriptures and techniques, for which training is given both in the Parish and the Diocese.   They also need to commit time to prepare and to take their place on the rota.

Welcomers

Burgess Hill is a growing town and new parishioners often arrive at the Church not knowing what is happening, where things are, or they have questions which need answering.    The role of the "Welcomer" is to stand at the back of the Church offering hymn books, newsletters and any other help that is required, i.e. to be the friendly face of St Wilfrid's!   New members of this group are always welcome.

'The Environment'

A group of men and women regularly clean the Church on a rota basis.

New volunteers are always welcome.
