Santa Barbara California. Sightseeing Attractions Guide
Santa Barbara Travel Guide
Santa Barbara is about 100 miles north of Los Angeles on Route 101. Santa Barbara sightseeing is a delight, with wonderful restaurants, cafés and superbly kept beaches. There's fantastic world-class shopping and there's great scenery and fun attractions too.
Santa Barbara hotels can be expensive. If this is an issue, try motels or staying in Carpinteria, just a few miles south of Santa Barbara on I-101. We recommend the Best Western, Carpinteria as a good budget hotel choice. Click here for low rates on Santa Barbara hotels.
Santa Barbara Sightseeing Attractions
We highly recommend a Santa Barbara sightseeing stroll down the main shopping area, State Street. Parking locations adjoin State Street and are usually free for the first 75 minutes. Savour the fine dining restaurants, elegant shops, cafés.
On State Street, you will find superb restaurants, elegant dining to suit all tastes and at the southerly end of State Street, Stearns Wharf and the best Santa Barbara beaches. We recommend East Beach.
Most of the Santa Barbara you see today is the result of a rebuild after the devastating earthquake of 1925. The reconstruction has created, what's considered to be the most beautiful downtown area in any USA city and we personally share that view.
Scenic Drive
To see Santa Barbara's famous Mission and more of the spectacular Santa Barbara coastline and beaches, try the sightseeing scenic drive which starts on Cabrillo Blvd and takes about one hour taking in some really memorable places and the ultra-expensive homes of Hope Ranch.
