Barbados Island Pictures

Animal Flower Caves & North Point Barbados

North Point, Barbados is the most northerly point of the island. The very strong trade winds at North Point make for dramatic waves most of the year. In some cases waves can rise fifty or more feet up the cliff. The result is very spectacular and it's well worth your while taking your Camcorder to do some filming.

On very windy days it can be dangerous to go into the Barbados Animal Flower Caves as waves enter the cave and you would get very wet indeed (or worse!). In such cases, the caves may close unexpectedly for safety reasons.

North Point Sign, Barbados

Also of interest is the sign erected at North Point, Barbados showing the direction and distance to a large number of other countries. Every time we visit the fierce winds and salt spray have taken more of a toll on the sign and more countries have dropped off and vanished forever, blown away by the strong (almost gale force) prevailing Caribbean trade winds!
