Over the past twenty five years Julian Williamson
has directed a considerable number of choirs and orchestras. Apart form
his long association with Ware Choral Society he has been musical
director of the Camden Choir, English Festival Chorus, and the Reading
Bach Choir.
He has conducted concerts with the London Bach
orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, the Ernest Read Music Association,
and has appeared regularly in all the major London concert halls. His
work has also taken him to many other parts of Britain and abroad -
Germany, Holland, France, Zimbabwe and the USA.
Julian has always been keen to promote contemporary music, and has been
involved with the work of many twentieth century composers, including
Ernst Krenek, Alun Hodinott, John Gardiner, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies
and Iain Hamilton. He has also been closely associated with David
Fanshawe, directing performances of African Sanctus and the first
performance of the revised version of Fantasy on Dover Castle.
