PART 1
Old Milton didn't do too bad
In justifying Jesus' dad
(That's God to you, you heathen swine!
Oh hell, why do I waste my time?)
But Milton didn't get it right
In writing of the Laddo's plight -
(that's Jesus Christ, the Big Guy's son,
Numero Dos to Number One)
And as for sorting Number Three
(the Holy Ghost to you and me)
It was a pretty flimsy try
For such clever, well-read guy!
So here I am to have a go,
The second Milton, dontcha know?
I tried to write in his blank verse
But when I tried it came out worse
So I shall have to stick to this:
I know it's rather hit and miss -
But using metre and some rhyme
Makes writing poems take less time!
If all you do is 'clumpy-clump'
And through the rhyme-schemes gaily thump
It's also easier to read
And far more fun - oh yes indeed!
So here we go - it's now begun:
We're off the blocks - let's start to run!
